Suppose Poem

Suppose Poem

Suppose tomorrow you awoke  and realized that it was all a dream. Your whole life, a lie, and nothing was as it seemed.  . Everything you deemed a problem, everything that was a big deal no longer would matter, at all, because none of it was real. . And everyone you met, all of the people that you missed they’d be a figment of your imagination, a myth, none of them would exist.

Seasons I drive through a world  where the trees are on fire  and their branches are burning with leaves of red and orange.  The bitterness of a mid-october breeze rushes past my face  and makes its way to disturb the peace  of the fragile leaves laying on the ground. . And I can’t help but think  that soon my world will be frozen,  and those fragile leaves will lay forgotten under layers of snow. Snow that sparkles  when the sunlight…

Dream Poem

Dream Poem

I had almost forgotten about you, before I was somehow sitting  in your passengers seat with the windows down. Like a time machine  brought me back  to the you that I know, not a stranger I haven’t spoke to in months. And I woke up confused  because I wasn’t in your car. So I begged my mind  to never play tricks  on me like that, ever again.

Island Days I miss the ocean breeze in the mornings, When life was so simple. I’d collect four leaf clovers, I’d spend my days at the beach. . When life was so simple, I’d never worry about tomorrow.  I’d spend my days at the beach, Smiling and laughing like a kid. . I’d never worry about tomorrow,  If I never grew up.  Smiling and laughing like a kid, I was so lucky. . If I never grew up, I’d collect…

I want to know how you think And why you do the things that you do. It never made sense to me,  I wonder if it makes sense to you. But every now and then  When you say just the right thing, I’ll forget why I was mad  And question my own thinking. From an outside perspective It’s so easy to see That your version of logic Is so far from reality. But when I try to tell you that,…

Puma As the air gets colder  and the leaves change color, I can’t help but think about my friend who left and never came home. A little black cat,  his name was Puma. But his old spot on my bed  is left vacant and cold. Days seem so long  when you’re waiting on something not promised.  Then days turned into weeks, when as I realized he’s really gone.  I wish I could’ve said bye  to my little buddy Puma maybe…

Free Verse Poem with Rhyming Scheme

Fall One by one, leaves twist and twirl in the air while tree branches start to show. Leaves delicately depart as they go, leaving all the limbs bare. The burning orange and red in the trees and yellow as rich as gold, contrasts with the bitter cold that finds its way in the breeze.    Nighttime creeps into daylight  well before I can even finish my work leaving the world cold and dark on another fall night.

I thought you’d want to know that today I went to sit at my new favorite place, a waterfall off a trail surrounded by trees. I sat alone, but I think you’d like it there. It’s quiet and just down the road. It reminds me of that bridge we’d walk to, except that was back when snow covered the ground, and the air was so cold, it made walking such a chore. Now the snow is gone and we’re both…

Letter Poem

Letter Poem

Dear stranger, Isn’t it weird that we can finally walk past each other and aren’t at home behind a screen?  A screen that strains our eyes, the only feature of our faces we know.  I want to say hello, but it’s so hard to do when we are six feet apart and I haven’t been able to even talk to my friends. Conversation seems so unfamiliar.  Isn’t it weird that we feel so out of place  in a world we’ve…

Living in a Metaphor Poem

Living in a Metaphor Poem

On a Hike I feel the rocks shifting  under my feet as I step up the incline and past the trees.  I can just barely see the ledge that leads right to the top. But I blink my eyes and as I look around, it’s like no progress has been made.  I’m no more near the top than I was a decade ago. Dark and heavy clouds  roll into the sky and rain pours down melting the path of footprints…
