This satire piece is written by Kelly McMahan on the current reality of the lifted mask mandate at UMass. McMahan highlights the experiences of both professors and students after the mandate was lifted in an exaggerated and humorous way, especially focusing on how strange it is that everyone can see each others whole faces now. She includes fictitious interviews from students discussing how they did not expect their professors to look the way they do. This story also has made up quotes from professors talking about how difficult it is to teach a class now that they can see the students full facial expressions which show disinterest. McMahan also points out how not wearing masks has affected individuals dating lives now that they can see their dates full face. McMahan concludes this piece by urging students to start wearing masks again and on behalf of the Massachusetts Daily Collegian satire department she states, “We didn’t expect you to look like that and it’s scaring us.”
