This opinion article is written by Will Duffy who voices his opinion on online learning and why it should have never been implemented throughout the pandemic. Duffy starts this piece by explaining a personal experience he had with a class being held on zoom stating that there was a lack of participation and enthusiasm from students in the class. He then goes on to site studies that claim educational environments are not places of high transmissions of COVID as long as people are distanced and masked. Duffy also explains that both studies and personal experiences show that students tend to learn less when taking courses online. He notes that there are ways to go about safely holding in-person classes, like having students get tested a couple times a week to prevent cases from spreading. He finishes this piece by restating is stance on the matter, that online learning is unnecessary and as the pandemic persists, online learning should not be implemented again.
