This article is written by Alanna Joachim and discusses the urgency many students feel about securing a job right after graduating college. Joachim explains that there are many factors that play into the pressure students feel about accepting a job immediately after graduation such as the fact that many of their peers appear to have something lined up and how the university praises those who already have job offers. Joachim points out that students who do not already have a job lined up should not feel alone, as a lot of other students are in the same position, and that it may even be a more practical approach to spend more time searching for a job. When students feel rushed to accept a job right after graduating, they may end up dissatisfied and according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistic 55.3% of college graduates leave their first job within one year due to this reason. Joachim encourages students to not stress about finding a career right away because there are many different paths students can follow post graduation.
