Out of Class Event

Previously in the semester, I watched the Cracking the Zip Code event, an hour-long session that discussed environmental injustice. I unfortunately was not able to attend this event live, but I watched the recording of the session. There were three main speakers that all talked about different aspects of environmental injustice that we see affecting society today. They went over topics such as redlining, pollution (specifically in the water supply in Flint Michigan), issues regarding Wabanaki sovereignty, and even ways that we as individuals can take action. I found this event to be really beneficial, it brought to light these issues that really need to be addressed. I was not aware of some of the issues that the speakers talked about before watching this event and I’m glad that I now know about ways I can get more involved in the movement for environmental justice such as being active in policy making.
