Free Verse Poem with Rhyming Scheme
Fall
One by one, leaves twist and twirl in the air
while tree branches start to show.
Leaves delicately depart as they go,
leaving all the limbs bare.
The burning orange and red in the trees
and yellow as rich as gold,
contrasts with the bitter cold
that finds its way in the breeze.
Nighttime creeps into daylight
well before I can even finish my work
leaving the world cold and dark
on another fall night.
